Congo Feminised Seeds
This delicious African hybrid combines the Bangi Congo, which is a rare, almost extinct, fast flowering and small African sativa; the Congo #3, which is another Congolese sativa with a strong energetic effect of exquisite quality, with a hint of Chitral Indica to keep down the height and flowering time of the final hybrid. It has strong, branchy, mid-height sativa structure and wild strawberry and flower petal aroma

There is absolutely no question that there are two very distinct varieties of Red Congo. It is not even an argument but rather a documented fact. I have submitted a photo of the African landrace variety. To be fair, there should be two completely unique categories for this name. You can’t even put them in the same group, as they are so unique and unalike. Developed and grown to perfection this fair red lady was recently produced by temple of calyx, a Canadian consortium of master growers. As you can see, it clearly contains zero indica and is as true a sativa as it gets. The potency soars in this one, promising close to 30% thc. The scent, while deceptively familiar, is a true delicacy for the experienced connoisseur. The end flav is actually completely unlike the scent she gives off. This is no Mexican red hair, nor is it a bred result to achieve a specific trait; but rather an exotic sativa the likes of which many will never know as red Congo, as the more common variety can hardly be cross referenced with the African landrace for any other reason than perhaps fragrance. The good news is, this variety being so whispy and red, you would have a very hard time confusing one with the other. What I have noticed is, that most strains our southern USA friends have often appear to be the hybrid, sadly one of the key problems with a name is that it rarely tells us much about the strains true history and actual status in the world today. The African variety could easily be dismissed as a very average, typical mild sativa from yesteryear, but in fact, it is a gem that without knowing someone who’s actually got the real deal, is often very rare to find. It reminds me of the memorable, blow your socks off sativas we found back in the early 80s when premium landrace still dominated the high end market. Look for this one at your favorite Canadian supplier. Most recently spotted in Van and Ontario, I was lucky enough to get some and cherish every puff.

I’ve only seen Red Congo at two clubs in the Bay Area and every time I smoke it I remember why it’s probably my favorite strain. I love the reddish hairs on the buds. Super nice high. Everything is chill. Your eyes get droopy and red, but there is no sleepiness effect. It’s a full body high with no couch lock. It’s doesn’t make you stupid and forgetful. It’s just euphoria and focus. It’s definitely for people with a high tolerance (like me =)). You see it; buy it.
Red Congolese Strain Review – Bonza Blog
Red Congolese is long touted as the perfect wake-and-bake strain. It is a pure Sativa designed to clear the fog in the head and encourage users to seize the day. For this reason, this highly appealing herb is appreciated for turning around unmotivated mornings in place of a double espresso.
Its THC levels of up to 20%, along with its sweet and spicy aromatherapy, rejuvenate users with an uplifting head high that inspires one to stay upbeat, focused, and motivated. And, though subtle, it has a body high that traces its origins to the legendary Afghani Indica.
Red Congolese’s high-flying Sativa high is from two iconic landraces of Africa and Mexico, which both have a penchant for cerebral head high that lasts for hours. However, it also passed on its power to overstimulate the mind especially in high doses.
Many people are put off by THC-laden strains as, like black coffee, it can be too intense. True enough, Red Congolese does brew feeling of anxiety and paranoia in high doses. The palpitating experience, however, is one that is easily avoidable.

Odor and Flavors
Red Congolese has a complex mix of flavors that gravitate toward strong overtones of wet soil. Its fragrance is completely pungent especially when combusted. Drawn in, it swarms the mouth with sweet and spicy fusions of raspberries doused in Sriracha sauce. A rather acrid smoke, using a water pipe or bong will help ease the lungs by smoothening the experience.
Effects
Red Congolese is highly regarded for the lightning-fast rush of energy it delivers. It can be used in lieu of a double shot of espresso for its ability to wakes users up from daytime lethargy. With its fiercely cerebral high, the spicy smoke elevates the mood while improving motivation.
Taken in moderation, it silences the pre-occupied mind of worries by ushering in an innate happiness. The initial onset’s mentally provoking clarity is quite stimulating. It allows thoughts to flow and form freely into groundbreaking ideas or innovative solutions, sparking a sense of creativity. And, with a heightened sense of focus, casual users stay productive throughout the day.

After about an hour or two, the same uplifting buzz trickles down from the temples. It relaxes tightness in the muscles while untying knots of tension. Completely relaxed, users feel lighter and more physically able as the pains go away. The dreaded long list of tasks, which are usually stressful to handle, are easier to check off as the hours pass.
However, its potency entails an overwhelming psychedelic trip if one is not careful. Although veterans may enjoy the rather colorful ride and appreciate the brain-warping tendencies, beginners should tread lightly.
Adverse Reactions
For the most part, Red Congolese’s effects are dreamy. However, in high doses, it can be quite overwhelming with users experiencing anxiety and paranoia. At times, it is also accompanied by a headache. For this reason, it is best to start with low doses and gradually build up without going beyond one’s limitations.
Dry eyes and a cottonmouth are to be expected in any variety of cannabis due to cannabinoids that interfere with moisture production. Downing a few glasses of water throughout the day will help ease the ache. People should avoid alcohol as it can aggravate the side-effects.
Medical Use and Benefits
Many people struggle to get out of bed in the morning especially when, like a force of gravity, chronic fatigue weighs not only the mind but also the body down. Red Congolese addresses the problem through a boost of energy that get users up and moving in the morning.

It brightens up the mood and clears the head of anxiety-inducing worries. For this reason, it is a great anti-depressant that manages disorders like depression or PTSD. Moreover, it replaces feelings of hopelessness with a newfound zeal for life. Without the distracting thoughts, the Sativa-dominant enhances focus that encourages one to tick off errands one after another.
The synergy between its high THC and CBD compounds results in a remarkable pain-killing tool that effectively takes the edge off the body beginning from the temples.
Growing Red Congolese
A visual beauty, this striking plant grabs people’s attention with its thick layer of diamond-encrusted trichomes. Its colors are what one would expect from its name, fiery orange pistils that turn into a charming dark amber as it matures.
Its tendency to shoot up towards the end of its growth cycle means that regular trimming and pruning is a requirement. Other than training to stay short in vertically limited spaces, cutting away parts also helps control humidity by ensuring the lower nodes are properly ventilated.
It works well under controlled environments. With proper feeding and a 12/12 light management using a 600 watts HPS, it can produce hearty yields of about 350 to 450 grams of sticky buds per square meter in 10 to 12 weeks of flowering. Using hydroponics with a Sea of Green set-up is best used to maximize its growth rate, although organic soil can be a good option for developing its flavors and aroma.
